Clean up your Gmail inbox – unread emails
Posted by Streetdaddy™ on December 10th, 2007 filed in Geek, WebLately I’ve been finding that my Gmail inbox slowly gets clogged up with unread emails, probably because I’ve been to lazy to investigate a way to filter and delete them with one smooth automagical keystroke. So I finally got around to finding the information I needed, and while it’s slightly more involved than I’d like, it gets the job done.
- Type is:unread in the Gmail search field and press enter. This advanced operator will do pretty much what you’d expect – display unread emails.
- Now that you have the first page of your unread emails, click All to select them all.
- If you have more than a page worth of unread emails, click the option to Select all emails that match this search or something to that effect, to select ALL of your unread emails.
- Then click the Delete button and confirm that you do want to delete all emails that match the search.
- You should now have a much cleaner inbox and, for a short time, a bit fat 0 showing in your Gmail checker of choice.
