Please, bring him back to us, bring him back to us…
Posted by Streetdaddy™ on November 5th, 2007 filed in Life, SurfAh yes, it’s great to be home again after a hectic home town visit. After getting the boring work stuff out of the way I managed to catch up with surprisingly large number of family and friends, mostly thanks to a BBQ hosted at Chateau de Magilla. After feasting on an endless array of charred animal flesh we then got on to the serious business of drinking a mixture of beer, spirits and savagely underrated Paddle Wheel goon. This led to several rounds of extremely non-PC offroad wheelchair trials involving contestants with no physical disabilities (but plenty of mental problems), resulting in a seriously buckled wheelchair and sore guts from excessive laughter. I managed to slip out the next morning around 8am while everyone was still asleep, thereby avoiding the dreaded clean up. My apologies to the gracious hosts of the BBQ, I truly did have a plane to catch!
So what happened while I was away? Well, as usual I missed out on a nice easterly swell and thanks to my thoughtful mates for making sure I didn’t miss out on any post-surf glory stories. What else? Well, some of you may have seen the picture on the right, which turned up on Coastalwatch as their ‘Wave of the day’. Looks pretty scary, but further cemented my opinion that you can’t believe anything you see on the internet. Turns out it was, as suspected by many, a photoshopped fake... Which is probably a relief for some of my extended family who stay down at Forster every year for most of January!
