A sad day for internet radio
Not that long ago I posted about the impending doom to be be inflicted upon internet radio stations, such as Pandora and Last.fm, due to new international licensing constraints borne from an RIAA smack-down. Well, its now somewhat officially doomsday according to an email sent out to non-US Pandora subscribers:
Today we have some extremely disappointing news to share with you. Due to international licensing constraints, we are deeply, deeply sorry to say that we must begin proactively preventing access to Pandora’s streaming service for most countries outside of the U.S.
Right now I’m happily listening to my ‘The Rapture’ station, but I guess it’s only a matter of time before it denies me my listening pleasure… I haven’t gotten the email yet, hopefully it never comes. Meanwhile, there has at least been some good news for US interwebbers.
Thanks to Mashable for the update. I think.
