Help Pandora stay alive

Firstly, what is Pandora? My girlfriend introduced me to it after she stumbled over it and then we both marvelled at its brilliance. It allows you to ‘build’ your own online radio station based on musical analysis by the Music Genome project. For instance, if you like Jane’s Addiction, you can seed your new radio station with the band name and Pandora will search out other music that it thinks you’ll like, and it does a pretty damned good job of it! Check out my list of recent stations over to the right and click one to listen to it. The best part: you can listen to the complete songs for free! A great way to find out about new artists that you may not have even heard of.

So it was with great sadness that I read, in today’s Mashables roundup, that recent lobbying by the RIAA may force Pandora to cease its webcasts due to an increase in the amount webcasters are charged for each song they play. If you haven’t used Pandora.com yet, well, I hope you’re not reading about and wishing it was still around. Either way, go and vote in the petition to save internet radio, tell your friends about Pandora, and if you have gotten some satisfaction out of listening to ad-free radio that really does play what you want to hear, then go and donate to their cause listen some more coz I can’t find anyway to donate… Even though that might send them further down the hole due to the price of the songs. Try not to think about that.
