The triumphant return of Darby
Posted by Streetdaddy™ on July 28th, 2005 filed in LifeAfter a short hiatus the smooth sounds of Darby are back in business with a new member! Guitarist Pete went home to London a while back so things have been a bit quiet while they searched for a worthy replacement. I went to their show a few weeks ago at the Jive bar after my surrogate little brother, vocalist and drummer extraordinaire, Dieter, let me know that they were making a come back. I wasn’t disappointed and they’ve even made a few nice updates to some of their tracks, so they obviously haven’t been twiddling their thumbs during their down time!
I’m no music critic, but I must say they are a tight and impressive outfit. Lead singer Isabelle has such an amazing voice and given an appreciative crowd she doesn’t miss a note. Dieter’s drumming is as prodigious as ever and can wax lyrical on demand as you’ll hear if you listen to the tracks below. Bassist Josh is the perfect accompaniment with his understated style and smooth support vocals, but I gotta say I do miss hearing his solo voice from way back in Honeyfix days! I didn’t get a chance to meet the new guitarist but he definitely knows what he’s doing and you’d be hard pressed to guess he’s a new addition to the band.
Dieter has been nice enough to send me through a couple of tracks to post up here, so make sure you download them, get em’ on your iPod, share em’ with your friends and *crank em’ up loud*!
