Bruce Irons makes huge punt to avoid 6m shark!

On my lunch break today (yes I can hear you all scoffing) I was checking out the Round 2 Highlights of the Billabong Pro. Nothing seemed strange until I rewound to about 2:10 to once more watch in amazement as Bruce Irons effortlessly punted a good 4 foot out of the lip, landed and continued to destroy the rest of the wave. After watching it a few times and muttering ‘awww sick’ under my breath, I spotted what looks like a very very large fin popping out of the water. I’ve tried to capture it as an image but you really need to watch the streaming video to see what I mean.

There are so many possible explanations! Is it some sort of artifacting caused by the video compression? Maybe its a seal, dolphin or surf photographer (usually resemble walruses)? Or maybe, just maybe, it was something much more sinister…
