Day trip to Yorkes

Headed down to Yorkes for the day yesterday. Did the midnight run Friday, arrived about 3am and then slept through the first session of the day… DOH! We were just walking up the hill to check out Trespassers and I was saying to Will, ‘I’d love to surf PM’s, if only it was big enough’, then PM’s came into view and it was breaking! Well I couldn’t really NOT surf it after that so we trekked across the fly-infested paddocks and scored some chunky rights. Will was all over it, playing with the suck rock like it was some kind of diving board, tucking his balls in and taking beyond vertical drops. As usual we were both to amped to take any photos before we paddled out, so the photos are from afterwards when the wind had started to hack into it a bit.

Finished the day off with a grovel at Pondie which was enticing us by throwing up the occasional small but zippy left. Not that many crew on it but coupled with the inconsistency it was enough to be annoying. Will snaked me on one (which I’d never do to him), his cutback coinciding with my hack, him almost getting speared in the head by my board. Luckily it missed his head because I only just repaired the nose of my board! Thankfully we both managed to get a few nice ones before the sun went down and I managed to drive home without falling asleep…
