Dear mum…
Posted by Streetdaddy™ on February 8th, 2005 filed in LifeThere’s two things I hate about flicking the ‘on’ switch for a new site:
- The morbid fear that when you go to the live site everything will be broken.
- Having to flick the switch outside of normal working hours.
Tonight I had to migrate a completed Jahia site from one server to the other. I was using an older version of Jahia that has a notoriously flaky extract/deploy process so confidence was not high. But despite my fears, the deployment was successful, so with emergency beer and pizza close at hand I bumped the server. Hit the front page of the site … everything looks ok … check pages … login / logout etc … the emergency beer and pizza transforms into a celebratory feast!
The site is one of the many sites managed by my employer and while I normally wouldn’t bother mentioning a launch, it is kind of nice to release a site that validates, also I think my mum likes to know what I’m up to!
